Why recycle your cards?

TO SAVE TREES....

Using 'waste' cards to make packaging means that trees don't have to be cut down and pulped to make more packaging. Trees are a vital part of the environment, providing habitat for wildlife and absorbing greenhouse gases. They also prevent soil erosion and are the 'lungs' of the Earth, producing oxygen for us to breathe.

TO RECOVER A RESOURCE....

Greeting cards and other paper materials are not 'waste' but are 'secondary raw materials' that industries can use to make new products. The cards are recycled and come back as paper packaging. When greeting cards are recycled, a valuable resource that would otherwise end up in landfill is recovered and made useful again.

TO EDUCATE AND INVOLVE THE PUBLIC....

The campaign also involves the community in a positive environmental effort. People get the satisfaction of playing an active role in the recycling process by diverting cards away from landfill. They become an important link in the recycling 'loop'.

People can also see measurable results from the campaign when they purchase products that are packed in recycled packaging from their supermarket. It teaches people to think of their cards as a potential resource instead of waste.
