Four consortia vie for Dutch wind farm contract

The groups which have bid to construct the Near Shore Windpark are: E.ON Benelux Services ; North Sea Wind Power, which includes Shell Wind Energy and Nuon Renewable Energy; a consortium of Siemens , Heijmans and Van Oord ACZ; and a constortium of Electrabel Nederland , Vestas Nederland Windtechnologie , Jan de Nul and Fabricom.
A commission studying the bids is expected issue a recommendation in April, and a final decision is expected shortly after that, Jan van Diepen, spokesman for the Dutch Economics Ministry said.
Construction of the wind farm is expected to begin in 2003 and the power generated by the wind turbines will be enough to meet demand for 80,000 households.
