USA: November 12, 2004

NEW YORK - The 580-megawatt Brighton Beach natural gas-fired power plant in Ontario shut for planned maintenance by early Wednesday, a spokesman for the plant manager said.

The spokesman could not say exactly how long the unit would likely remain shut due to competitive reasons, but noted the outage would likely not last long.

The unit was available for service early Tuesday.

The Brighton Beach station is located in the town of Windsor across the Detroit River from Detroit, Michigan. The combined-cycle station consists of two gas-fired turbines and one steam turbine.

Coral Energy Canada Inc. operates the station under a long-term contract for its owners, Ontario Power Generation and ATCO Power. Coral Energy is part of Shell Trading and an affiliate of the Royal Dutch/Shell Group (SHEL.L: Quote, Profile, Research) (RD.AS: Quote, Profile, Research) .

OPG, which operates fossil-fueled, nuclear and hydroelectric power plants capable of producing about 22,000 MW of generation, sells wholesale power to utilities in Ontario and to the U.S. and Canadian electricity markets.

ATCO Power, a subsidiary of Calgary-based energy conglomerate ATCO Ltd (ACOx.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) , owns power plants in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia.
