Lightning Kills Nine at Bangladesh Quarry

BANGLADESH: February 17, 2006


DHAKA - Lightning killed nine people and injured 25 during a thunder storm in northeastern Bangladesh on Thursday, police said.


The victims were labourers of a stone quarry near Sylhet, 350 km (220 miles) from Dhaka.

Police said several bolts of lightning struck the quarry over a period of 15 minutes.
