Trade Group to Call for Emissions Caps - WSJ
Mail this story to a friend | Printer friendly version

US: February 9, 2007

NEW YORK - A trade group of electricity suppliers representing about one-third of US power generation is expected to call for a federal constraint on global-warming emissions, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

An announcement by the Electric Power Supply Association would be a sign that much of the US industry is concluding that it will likely get hit with an emissions cap whether it wants one or not, and that it was right for the industry to try to shape any eventual policy, the Journal said.

The Washington-based group's board members include Mirant Corp., Calpine Corp., and units of ConocoPhillips and BP Plc,

An official from the group could not immediately be reached.
