Wild Goose Tests Positive For Deadly Bird Flu

"The finding of more cases in wild birds is not unexpected ... We are currently considering whether any additional restrictions are necessary in the area," the ministry said in a statement, adding the bird was found less than a km from where the swans were collected.
The outbreak in Dorset, southern England, was first reported last month after three dead mute swans were found at a bird sanctuary. Seven subsequent cases in mute swans have been confirmed, the most recent on February 4.
The virulent H5N1 stain has killed more than 230 people since 2003 and millions of birds have either died from it or been killed to prevent its spread.
