WASHINGTON - A 5.5 magnitude earthquake struck the Indian Ocean, 176 miles north-northeast of India's Andaman Islands at 1008 GMT on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey reported.

|
The temblor had a depth of 24.2 miles, USGS said. No tsunami warning had been issued as of 1025 GMT.
