Brazilian fashion model Fernanda Tavares wears a t-shirt that's read:'Fur is dead' during a protest at Paulista avenue in Sao Paulo, September 4, 2003.
|
Tavares is the latest poster girl for animal rights, unveiling a new global campaign for the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in her native Brazil. Following in the footsteps of supermodels like Christy Turlington, pop star Pink and actress Kim Basinger, the slender 22-year-old said she opposed cruelty to animals and stopped modeling fur in 1998.
