A dog spins in the air from a twisted rope over a pool, during an annual ritual near the village of Brodilovo, some 560km southeast from the capital Sofia, March 5, 2005.
|

|
During the ritual, a rope is tied round a dog and then twisted and attached to a stake on either sides of the pool. Once the rope is released the dog starts spinning. Animal rights activists say the custom is cruel for the animals, but traditionalists think it boosts the health of the dog.
