A man holds a Golfina turtle hatchling on Toluca Beach, 40 km south of San Salvador.
|
Ecological authorities and volunteers released into the sea about 1,500 Golfina turtles born in captivity. Golfina turtles, also know as Olive Ridley turtles, are endangered and are listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna (CITES).
