What Is The Mailing Preference Service? |

The 'Mailing Preference Service' is a non-profit organisation funded by the direct mail industry. For people who don't want to receive advertising mail, Planet Ark and the Direct Marketing Association are promoting the 'Mailing Preference Service'. The 'Mailing Preference Service' is a free industry service that allows you to register your wish not to receive unsolicited direct mail. It helps to ensure that the direct mail consumers receive is welcome mail, while also helping the direct marketing industry to reduce its wastage. This does not include companies with whom a consumer has dealt with in the past.
Research shows that 35% of consumers are aware of the MPS, with currently
1.2 million names registered. Consumers can
register online
or request an application form by phone on 0845 703 4599.

In addition to our 'World Environment News' service,
Planet Ark runs a number of environmental campaigns in Australia.
We are now rolling out some of these activities into the UK. Our first UK campaign is with the Direct Marketing Association to promote the 'Mailing Preference Service'. This campaign is designed to help people reduce and recycle any unwanted "Junk" mail.
