Week 26: I resolve to keep warm and cosy this Winter without warming the planet too!

We all like to keep warm when it’s cold, but the energy used by the heating systems and appliances we use in Winter warm the planet too! A difference of one degree between the temperature inside your home and outside changes energy consumption levels and greenhouse pollution by up to 10%.
I can turn the heating down, layer up and stay warm. I can put on a hoodie and socks when inside, turn down my thermostat and only heat the rooms I use. I can keep cosy on the couch by using a quilt instead of the heater. In bed, I can wear warm pyjamas and use a thicker doona or sheepskin under-blanket instead of an electric blanket. I can prevent heat loss in my home by insulating the roof, putting curtains with pelmets on the windows and using door snakes.
