Week 54: I resolve to find options for recycling or donating my unwanted electrical goods such as mobile phones, computers and white goods to save precious resources from wasting away in landfill.
Date: 12-Jan-10
Here in Australia we are lucky enough to have the technology and systems to be able to recycle about 98% of components from computers, televisions and other electronic items. The problem is, only about 5 percent of the 3 million computers we throw out each year get recycled - 95% of them unfortunately end up in landfill, losing the precious metals, plastics and chemicals we could otherwise reuse.
If I bought or received new electronic goodies recently, I will be sure to decrease the number of electronic items that end up in landfill, by visiting www.RecyclingNearYou.com.au or calling the Recycling Near You Hotline on 1300 733 712, to find out where I can recycle or donate my unwanted electronic waste ('e-waste') items in my local area.
Commitment Statement
I resolve to find options for recycling or donating my unwanted electrical goods such as mobile phones, computers and white goods to save precious resources from wasting away in landfill.
